About The AuthorUK based James Tyler Ball is the author of the hilarious and insightful book, Don't Hold Your Breath: The Airheaded World of Breatharianism. He is best known, not for his literary works, but as a Lofi Hip-Hop music producer called Low-Res Royalty. Receiving great praise from listeners, musical piers and the editorial team at his university BIMM Bristol, James has spent most of his life working on creative products, both musically and literarily.
From a very young age, perhaps as early as seven, James had a talent and strong passion for writing. As a child he began learning his craft by writing and illustrating his own comic book series, Mr A, which, as a teenager, he adapted into his first novella - The Adventures of Mr. A: The A Is For Alcoholism. It followed Ed Stone, a man who fell deeply depressed after losing his dog Moam in an unfortunate hot air balloon accident. To cope with his depression, Ed would take LSD and see himself as a super hero: Mr. A. The book was full of drug and alcohol fuelled hallucinogenic adventures. Unfortunately, James was never properly able to publish this book, but, in combination with studying Creative Writing at college before dropping out, it served as a brilliant lesson in what it takes to write a book. |
James then developed a passionate interest in films, leading to him writing screenplays and producing several short films. His screenplays were often immensely dark and gory - a far cry from his previous and current light-hearted works. Though ghastly in tone, he would write almost a screenplay a day for around six months. His writings served as a form of therapy - a break from the monotony of a Business Administration apprenticeship - and even gained him some success in the competitive world of independent filmmaking. He was able to sell scripts to German filmmaker Malteserkreuz Film and several other indie filmmakers.
After a long hiatus from writing, spending time focusing on producing music, in which James faced moderate success, he returned to the literary world after developing an undying love for reading during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020. After coming across Breatharianism and finding extensive inspiration in the works of Jon Ronson, specifically The Men Who Stare At Goats and THEM: Adventures With Extremists, James wrote his debut book Don't Hold Your Breath: The Airheaded World of Breatharianism, and re-entered writing in a stratospheric way. His passion for music hasn't been left behind, however, and since completing his book he has written reviews for the up-and-coming music blog Sleepless Society.
